With the aluminium body design, the Vogue has 9.5mm thick and weighs 335 grams, and comfortable to hold in hand. The device has a 7-inch display with a 169 dpi resolution. The screen lacks sharpness and1024 x 600 display lacks sharpness to the point that it looks almost looks like it’s out of focus at times. There is an extreme lack of color saturation and the screen sensitivity is sorely lacking. The Vogue’s buttons and ports are traditionally located and include a power button, volume rocker, SIM slot, micro SD slot, micro USB charging port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It runs Android Jelly Bean.
The Huawei Media Pad 7 Vogue can make phone calls as it has an earpiece, microphone, and a 3G cellular radio. And the quality of the calls is acceptable: the earpiece is loud enough and sounds natural. However, the microphone could have been better as the other party described the sound as not sounding natural.
The Vogue runs on a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM. There was a lag when running tasks and apps, and load times were brutally slow. The Vogue has 8 GB of onboard storage, 6 GB of which is available out of the box. Huawei deserves credit for not loading the Vogue down with preloaded software. The device has a 3.1 megapixel rear facing camera, and a front facing VGA camera. The Vogue’s battery life is its best feature, lasing seven days in standby and a good three to four with general use.
There is a 4100mAh non-removable battery inside the Huawei Media Pad 7 Vogue. The manufacturer claims that it should provide 20 hours of continuous talk time on a single charge, or 6 hours of video playback. Keeping the screen brightness low and activating the power saver mode should extend the tablet’s battery life.
