INTRODUCTION
Apple is gearing up to unveil its AI-driven functionalities for the iPhone, while a different company is adopting a contrasting strategy. Rather than incorporating more technology, Light, the creator of the sleek phone with an e-paper display, is introducing its latest iteration, the Light Phone III.
The Light Phone 3, like its predecessor, features a minimalist black-and-white screen without social media or internet access. However, it has a larger OLED display, an NFC chip for future payment options, and a camera for capturing important moments.
Limited Key Features
The Light Phone 3 distinguishes itself by allowing users to retain essential features of modern smartphones, such as maps, navigation, calls, texting, notes, voice notes, a calendar, timer, alarm, calculator, hotspot, and a basic music player and podcasts tool. However, it provides an alternative for those who wish to avoid certain technologies like social media apps, clickbait news, and web browsing.
Light phone users have the option to use the unlocked device on their current carrier or choose Light’s phone plan, which costs $30 per month and includes 1GB of data. Additionally, there are more expensive plans available at $45/month or $70/month, offering 5GB or unlimited data, respectively.
Key Feature
Opening the phone and using it has become easier with the addition of a fingerprint ID on the power button. The phone now supports 5G and boasts an increased RAM of 6GB (compared to 1GB in the Light Phone II), expanded memory of 128GB (previously 8GB), and more advanced Qualcomm chips.
The light wheel is a recent addition that allows you to easily adjust the screen brightness by simply turning a knob. This feature comes in handy when transitioning between indoor and outdoor environments, as it enables you to make the screen brighter or dimmer according to your needs.
