2024 Instagram adds new features to DMs, stories and notes

INTRODUCTION

Instagram is introducing a range of fresh updates that are specifically designed to elevate the experience of direct messaging (DMs) and inject a greater sense of individuality into Stories, Reels, and Notes. These new features are set to enhance the way users communicate through DMs, making it more engaging and interactive.

Additionally, Instagram aims to add a touch of personalization to Stories, Reels, and Notes, allowing users to express themselves in unique and creative ways. With these exciting updates, Instagram users can look forward to a more dynamic and expressive platform that caters to their diverse communication needs.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Users can now utilize the “Cutouts” feature to convert their photos into one-of-a-kind stickers, which can be employed in Reels and Stories. Notably, stickers generated from videos will possess animation. Moreover, eligible photos discovered on Instagram can also be transformed into stickers by users.
  • Instagram has recently added prompts to its Notes feature, improving the “set your mood” option in DMs. This new feature allows users to include prompts in their Notes, promoting engagement between friends, followers, and other users.
CONCLUSION

Above mentioned prompts are visible on the user’s DM page, showing the total number of responses received. By tapping on the prompt, a brief menu will show each user’s response. Users can then click on their profile icon to enter the standard Notes interface and record their mood.

Users will be able to customize the sharing settings for their prompts, similar to the existing functionality of Notes. This means that they will have the flexibility to decide who can view their “Notes Prompt”. They can either choose to share it with their followers whom they also follow back, or they can limit the visibility to only their close friends. This feature allows users to have control over the audience they want to engage with when sharing their prompts.
